Title: Fabric Cache from Finland Post by: Mangrove on February 24, 2014, 06:23:18 PM While renovating a house built during 1939 and early 1940s, a Finn found a cache of Winter and Continuation War era pieces of airplane fabric between the outer and inner walls. Apparently the builder had been working at nearby State Aircraft Factory located at H?rm?l?, Tampere, and used the old & worn pieces of fabric to insulate his house.
Some photographs of the fabrics can be found behind this link (http://www.flightforum.fi/forum/index.php/topic,108640.0.html). For scale, the large swastika has a diameter of 0.98 meters. Title: Re: Fabric Cache from Finland Post by: Saivila on February 24, 2014, 07:34:29 PM Hi. My guess is. Roundel on Light grey fabric: Fokker C.X; under wing surface. Red Star: Polikarpov R-5, wing upperside.
Third one is from some older type cause of darker Blue and over silver. Could be some type so far as 1920's. Blackburn Ripon undersurfage is a quess. Regards Saivila |
