Hi folks. I have finished a new decal set for Yak-9 aircraft. Part 1 includes 4 options: Yak-9, Yak-9D, Yak-9M and Yak-9B. For more info, please visit my blog. Part 2 will cover Yak-9DD, Yak-9K, Yak-9T and Yak-9R. Thanks! Viktor

Hi Viktor,
nice decals. But when looking at photos of actual planes AMT11/AMT12 areas for Awdejev's and Grib's planes are not correct in your painting schemes.

Hi Viktor, compare, please, your instruction sheet (hope you do not mind I posted it here): with the photo of Avdeyev's plane: - left side of AMT12 on the front fuselage of different shape, - AMT12 under the eagle of different shape, and Grib's plane: - left upper wing - angular demarcation lines, - different angular shape of AMT12 on the front fuselage and bellow/behind canopy Hope it helps. 66misos

Hi Thanks for that. So Grib's plane had angular demarcation lines instead of curves? Following this template? Thanks. Viktor

Hi Viktor, hi Misos Thanks for that. So Grib's plane had angular demarcation lines instead of curves? Following this template? the style of painting changes between the wing and the fuselage, being sharper on the left wing. Probably it's due to a repainting. Note the lighter shade of control surfaces, probably not repainted. Regards Massimo

Hi, and interestingly, tails on all four planes looks differently Seems a lot of improvisations in the field, with NKAP scheme somewhere in painter's mind. 66misos

Here are corrected camouflage schemes. For Grib's plane I hope this could be a good start. Thanks Viktor

Hi Viktor,
IMHO that Grib's "22" looks OK now. However, check again left side of AMT12 area on the front fuselage of Avdeyev's plane - on the photo it is straight line, going from the top to the left and under the exhaust it turns to the right.

Hi Viktor, may be I am blind and see something what is not there There are also darker blotches on the top of AMT11, IMHO results of weathering, dirty etc. But demarcation line in general is not soft curve. 66misos

Viktor, What kit is the Part 1 1/48 decal sheet for? Is there a new Yak-9 kit in the works?

to Misos: Noooow I see what you mean! to Tyronesdaddy: Well, there's no recommended kit. Originally I was thinking to provide in 1/72 scale only, but I was asked to do so also in 1/48. Viktor

Hi, another idea: As it often happens in the normandie niemen pics, this picture may have been reveal in the wrong way... if this was the right way: So the camouflage scheme would be quite like the official one: second idea: the code number was paint in the factory, so they had to overpaint it to paint the eagle (this often happens to in the normandie regiment). it could be the circle I did in AMT-11, over the original paint scheme...
