Unfortunately I had no time to do my hobby until Christmas time last year. I felt I need to to something simple which can be built quickly.
I have chosen the Eduard Jak 3 because I knew this kit well.
During the year I could buy some paint from Mr. Paint and I wanted to try them already.
To build the kit was exactly as I expected, since I accepted the constraints of the kit and I did not change anything in it.
The inner side of the cabin was painted by the grey of Mr. Paint A 14.
I was surprised when I wanted to paint the outside of the kit. I used to polish the surface until 1000-1200, but now I have experienced that this paint needs the same prework as the Alclad metal paints, so I had to polish until 2500.
The manufacturer offers it without dilution with 0,3 airbrush. With this preconditions the preshadowing disappeared and the transition between the colours were not really nice. Finally I had to use 0,2 airbrush and 15-20% dilution (Gunze Mr Color). This is the result:
The paint dries within minutes, and can be touched.
Now I have used the colours which were in the box, but at the next kit I will brigthen it with 5-8% the greys.
I have used the decale of the Authentic Decals.
I was really surprised when I experienced the following: The red star on the side seems to be good 18,5 mm=88,8 cm; but the red stars ont he tail seem to be too big 15,5 mm=74,4 cm.
The ones on the wing are monumental 23,5 mm=112,8 cm.
Does anyone know how big these red stars should be.
Thank you for your help.
