Please forgive me for double posting, but the thread I started in the Yak section seems to be being ignored. I already posted two questions, which I'll repeat here:

1. Wheel wells: Undersurface color or A-14? (or are both possibly correct?)

2. fuselage stencils: same as those on Yak-3? (South Front Yak-1 kit has fewer than on the Zvezda Yak-3 kit or the Accurate Decals Yak-3 sheet; Accurate Miniatures decals seem bogus)

Now a third question:

Did the Yak-1 have the pop-up landing gear indicators as found on the Yak-3?

Thanks for any help on these.

Hi Pip,
in photos, the landing gear is darker than the undersurface, so grey is very likely. I don't know if the wheel disk is green (as on some types) or grey.

I can't really answer your other questions with certainty, but:

Did the Yak-1 have the pop-up landing gear indicators as found on the Yak-3?

Yes, you can see them on many photographs of Yak-1's on the ground - both Yak-1s and Yak-1bs. They are also shown on most good drawings (for example, those in the Polygon book "Первый Як").

Hi Massimo.
Yes, I'm pretty confident in A-14 for the gear; I'm wondering about the wheel wells. I went with green for the wheel disks, which is borne out at least by the museum Yak-7 -- good enough for me.

Thanks, Bennie, that's very helpful. I'll install them on both models.
