Does anyone have a photo of a late-type Mig-3 painted in Factory green and AII Blue?

Hi, sorry, I don't think. In my opinion, only two prototypes, I-200 n.03 and 04, could have that color. However, all available images are in bw, so, at the end, there is not a definitive proof, only suppositions. Eventually, the plane rebuilt by Aviarestoration wore this scheme at MAKS 2005, but there is no proof that it's historically accurate. Massimo

I read thad Zavod 1 painted their Migs "factory green". Did they produce only early or some late types painted like this?

Hi, I have a lot of doubts about the use of the bluish shade called Factory green on MiG-3s. From photos, only prototypes I-200 n.03 and 04 seem painted with a so dark shade. The wrecks of an early MiG-3 shot down in Finland, in excellent condition, show more light and yellowish shades (different between wooden part and metallic part) and I think that this was the case of all early MiG-3s. Hi, there are color profiles accompanied by photos of 03 and 04 prototypes on the MiG-3 page; a pair of color photos of the wrecks of the Finnish Museum are on the MiG-3 page too, while better color photos are on Airwarfareforum under the sub-forum Colors. Massimo

Prototypes and early type. Not late type. Massimo

Hi, sorry for raising the old topic, but in my eternal quest to find a late-type Mig with single-color uppers, I have stumbled upon this rather interesting photo (date and unit unknown) This is undoubtedly a late Mig, judging by the exhaust and the upper bulges. Could this be AII green or an AMT overpaint? Regards, Aleksandar

Hello Aleksandar:
Do you mean the overpaint in the nose? At least to me,it looks like it was overpainted with black, not green. Greetings.
Martin

Hi Aleksandar, it's difficult to say. If you see how scarcely evident are the stars, it's difficult that a faded black has contrast enough to emerge on this photo. However, some photos with late MiGs with solid green repainting are already known, as n.12. Regards Massimo

Yet another suspected all-green late machine, possibly from the same unit as the machine I have previously posted. regards Aleksandar
