Title: Mig-3 at MAKS
Post by: warhawk on December 04, 2007, 08:50:36 AM
I have a couple of questions about this Mig-3:
-Is it the repainted "white 1" previously exhibited?
-What's with that spinner? It doesn't look very Mig-3-ish to me!  ???

Hi, :)
no, it's a new plane, with Allison engine I think.
The spinner looks good to my eye, but the prop and tail wheel are larger than usual. Perhaps the exhaust pipes are in a bit different position, and I don't assure that the profile is 100% right.

I think you are right about the Allison engine as the propeller is turning in the 'wrong' direction.
also the shape of the blades is not consistent with wartime MiG-3s
(I'm surprised Massimo didn't spot this)

as for the spinner I wouldn't be surprised if it's from a P-40 as they were often fitted with the Allison engine.
