I'm wondering, what is the most accurate Yak 1 kit? And what will I have to do to make it completely accurate? (I've heard that even the best have detail issues.

Hello!

It is nice that you are going to model a nice Yak-1.
Before advicing you it would be nice to hear what :
- scale?
- type of Yak-1 (bubletop/razorback)?

After that we can go to details  ;D

1/48 scale if possible, and a Yak 1b is what really caught my eye.

hello FirstTimeModeler!

1/48 scale if possible, and a Yak 1b is what really caught my eye.

Although this is not my scale, but in my oppinion the kit from Accurate Miniatures deservs the attention. There is the correction set from Alpha-Flight  for this kit of Yak-1: http://vvs.hobbyvista.com/Modeling/Yakovlev/Yak-1/Aftermarket/AlphaFlight/index.php

Maybe other fellas who work with 1/48 will give more valuable advices.
Happy modeling!
