Title: Greetings from the San Francisco Bay Area Post by: TapedFingers on March 13, 2013, 05:51:40 AM Hi Everyone,
I have been looking forward to joining this forum. I am mostly an armchair modeler with a towering stash of jets and props, mostly 1/72. I took a big interest to VVS subjects about a decade ago and have a pent-up urge to build now. VVS subjects have the wild camouflage, slogans and spunk that appeals to me. Add to that the history behind the aircraft and crews, and I was hooked. The story of Soviet aviation is endlessly fascinating, and this site proves it. Best regards. welcome here. Towering kits are a common problem, but I hope you will turn some of them into completed works. I've being in San Francisco and Palo Alto several years ago. Nice town. Title: Re: Greetings from the San Francisco Bay Area Post by: learstang on March 13, 2013, 04:54:57 PM Not GluedFingers? I guess I'm thinking of me - at any rate, welcome, indeed! I'll do my normal spiel - there are lots of knowledgeable people here; my area of "expertise" is in Shturmoviks, so if you have any questions, please let me know!
Best Regards, Jason Title: Re: Greetings from the San Francisco Bay Area Post by: TapedFingers on March 17, 2013, 07:20:38 AM Thank you for your kind welcome. Being an extreme armchair modeler means I have no finished aircraft to show. Here are pictures of the 1/72 ICM I-15 Bis I have in progress. When I finish, it will be the first plane I will have completed in about 25 years. At this rate, I will never topple my stacks of stash, so I better speed it up.

I used aluminum from a soda can for the seat back and some details. The holes in each fuselage half are for the shell ejector chutes. Enjoy the pictures. I built that model some years ago, but I wasn't so accurate in the cockpit.
