Hi guys, I would to ask you some soggestions about Yak-1 in 1/48 scale: wich is the best, the most correct? Eduard or Accurate Miniatures?
Many thanks for your opinions.
Ciao!

Hi Marco, for what I know, it should be the same mould. Perhaps Eduard has more decals or add-on details. It's a clean and easy to built model, but it suffers a bit for a too wide canopy. Regards Massimo

I did an "accurate miniature" yak-1b and a "Modelsvit" one. the modelsvit is more accurate, but it's a short run and more difficult to mount... the worst default of the "accurate miniature" is the spinner oversized.

Hi guys, many thanks for your replies! In this case I think I will choice the Eduard's Yak-1... Surely a plastic kit is easier to correct than a resin kit (Vector's LaGG-3 docet...) Massimo how much the canopy is too wide in the kit? There is pictures showing that? Ciao! Marco

Hi Marco if you want accuracy, don't bother with AM kit, the effort of fixing it is going to be more work than building he SF/Modelsvit kit. http://www.kitreview.com/reviews/yak1conversionreviewbg_1.htmAccurate Miniatures' 1/48 scale Yak-1 model is a great kit, but some questions have been raised about the accuracy of the shape of the upper fuselage deck and the canopy in particular. The canopy seems too wide (especially at the front) and too squared-off compared to drawings and photographs. The shape of the canopy will be tricky to fix, as it will require reworking the kit upper fuselage insert. this is the AM kit compare the inner cockpit framing is square section in the AM kit as well. http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/yak179/yaks-matvienko/yaks-matvienko.htmAccurate Miniatures Yak-1 is most detailed and most expensive of all. The kits is obviously based on the drawings from ?Pervyi Yak? but does not correspond to those well enough, for some reason. The fuselage is the most flawed thing in this kit, being too short and a bit out of proportion it gives the model a weirdly stumpy look. What roused the ?accurate? engineers to reproduce the fuselages framework by tubes with a square cross-section escapes me. Speaking of the transparent details, we discussed it with my friend and he asked if the window is open to throw them out right away. Transparencies, however, is a weak point for all Yak kits except Eduard?s Yak-3 that features a decent canopy part. there is a build here of the South Front Yak -1 here http://sovietwarplanes.com/board/index.php?topic=1160.0not a 'shake and bake' kit, but much easier than correcting the AM kit. Hi Troy, many thanks for informations! Pictures speak louder than words! Accurate's Yak-1 is not so....accurate.... Also the cockpit squared frames are quite ridicoulos.... Surely the SF/Modelsvit is better for corrections... I start hunting for SF/Modelsvit Yak-1... ... Ciao! Marco

Hi Troy, many thanks for all information! In the future I wish to built a Lidija Litvjak's Yak-1 (not 1B). There are some good images of her plane? Ciao! Marco

Hi Troy, many thanks for all information! In the future I wish to built a Lidija Litvjak's Yak-1 (not 1B). There are some good images of her plane? Ciao! Marco the only 'known' Litvak plane was 'white 44' see http://www.acestory.elknet.pl/litvak/litvak.htmI thought there was a thread here about her, and what plane she flew, and doubts if this is correct. It's the one usually said to be her plane. there is this shot but this looks like a different plane, a 1b, note looks to be a bubble canopy. HTH

Hi Troy, many thanks for your information. As I can see in the first picture maybe it would be a Yak-1 M-105PA or M-105PF, I don't know well the differences between the two versions. In this case I think is good the Yak-1 Modelsvit cod. 4802, due to the different shape of the rear canopy. Probably I will purchase the kit in Italy, because the Annants postage charges are too high; practically almost the same amount of the kit...
Surely in the second picture is a Yak-1b.
Ciao!
Marco
