Really impressive choice! My compliments for this huge decals sheet! Plane n.63 looks to have a camouflage made by small black and green dots. I suggest to distinguish silver and grey parts on profiles, usually the metallic parts were grey and the fabric parts silver, although some planes could have been overall grey or overall silver. There are some interesting color profiles on the book of Maslov too, even if they have M-25 and require the flat spinner of the I-15 bis (eventually the piece can be taken from the model of ICM). Regards Massimo

Thank you Massimo. Different colors of silver and gray color highlighted two shades of gray, the export of the vector smoothed out a bit. Camouflage will still be change, it is all just for show while future options. All variants are confirmed photos.

Hi Walker Congratulations! Your decal sheet looks great! But one I-153 is missing?. I-153 that you must include in your decal is ?Chaika? preserved in Paris at the Musee de l'Air. Plane is currently restored, its identity and history has been revealed after more than 60 years. The plane originally had tail number ?21? and red ?pilotka?. It belonged originally to 15 iap. Just before the beginning of the GPW it was assigned to 238 iap based in Ponevezhis, Lithuania where it was captured by the Germans. I hope it?s not too late; this is very interesting and important plane. Number ?21? will increase significantly your sales in France, at least. Cheers, KL

Hi, I would add this one, even if it's without numbers: Note that the green of 19 is painted in sterange way, by brush, over grey/silver background This one is the only I know with real winter painting This one seems silver overall instead of silver and grey This one has interesting black painting on its struts, maybe some other photo can show the marks on the tail. Chinese, Finnish and German ones would be good too. Regards Massimo

Love those shemes from red 6, 7 and 29. Are those also available in 1/48th scale?

Massimo, decal will make the first airplane. Just need to paint it on the photo. 19 and 12 numbers in the decals already.
B_Realistic, sorry, no.

Thank you KL, no priblem: Thank you very much! "French connection" will appreciate this... Font on 15 iap planes was more regular/geometric, numbers were drawn with constant line width. There is overwhelming evidence that only 2 schemes existed for series planes: - before June 1940 planes were silver (fabric) and light gray (metal covers) - after June 1940 upper surfaces were "protective" green, lower surfaces were light blue There were no factory painted planes in all silver or all gray scheme. Planes were camouflaged in some units. During Halkin-Gol conflict and before June 1941, planes were motlled. After June 1941 planes were camouflaged in green-black disruptive scheme. All this makes sense. Why would anybody in a unit re-paint a plane in overall gray??? Cheers, KL PS Border between green and blue colour on engine cowling was higher, at the exhaust and horizontal.

Hi Walker, Number "1" and number "2" must be parallel. True, starboard number "1" wasn't perfectly parallel to rudder hinge line. All other numbers of the same "font" in 15 iap are parallel : Number "16" Number "20" Number "25" Roman "IV" was a German marking, probably for transport purposes. It is yellow now. That said, original Red Star on the le Bourget Yak-3 is also yellow-orange... maybe red pigment reacts with overlaying paint sometimes? KL

Hi Walker, I've the impression that the red cap of 21 is drawn too wide, and the number 2 too low. Please check to be sure. Regards Massimo

"French connection" will appreciate this... Absolutely! However, Xan and myself, and of course many other French modelers would appreciate a 1/48 sheet... Thanks! Pascal
