Dark gray AMT-12 should be much closer to Black AMT-6 used on the propeller blades.
Light blue AMT-7 is OK, though. :) Happy modelling, KL Title: Re: Yak-3 Normandie-Niemen Eduard 1/48 Post by: xan on February 19, 2014, 12:01:26 AM Hello Steph!
Always a pleasure tu see NN planes! i like very much the way you weathered the plane (c'est tr?s fin) the mount is very clean congratulations! however, I disagree in two points with you: As KL I find the gray colors too lights and second thing, In my point of you russian mecalics didn't have the blue of the french army so they used wat they have , there is a pic of the risso's plane in le bourget (I don't find it in the web) who shows a darker blue.. that's what I did for the Iribarne's yak-3: (http://nsm08.casimages.com/img/2013/11/07//13110711522314768311711918.jpg) I didn't knew about the red lines you show in the tree yak. Can you tell me more about them? I should peint it in mine.... (http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/colors/chips/A9darkblue.jpg) But for small amounts used on spinners it would be easy enough to add a little white for a more French blue. Have they sanded the paint on the spinner of the Yak-3 at Le Bourget yet? Total speculation on my part, just a suggestion based on potentially available paint. I saw these red lines on some Yak-9 and Yak-3, we can see that in upper on right arm, between the elbow and shoulder, on the picture of Yak-3 "white 24" from "normandie-Niemen" taken during Spring 1945 at Elbing or Stuttgart or at Le Bourget ? (http://www.jumboroger.fr/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/photo_yak-3_nn_24-2.jpg) But I'm not sure that it was a generality... Cheers St?ph |
