Definitely worth a look. Thank you for posting, John!

thank you for sharing this information. Only, it takes a lot of money to correct marginal defects of the I-153 kits, while wings and tail remain unchanged. I fear that, a year after having purchased these sets, the I-153 announced by ICM (or some other manufacturer) will see the light. Regards Massimo Title: Re: New 1/72 Resin from Kora - I-153 and I-16 Upgrades/Conversions Post by: John Thompson on June 07, 2013, 05:31:51 PM Yes, I agree - the parts for the I-153 may be more accurate or more detailed in some ways than the ones in the Heller kit, but they do not correct the wings and fuselage. To build a model using all of the Kora parts would be very expensive, and it would still not be correct without a lot of other work. If the cowling in the Kora engine set is accurate, this might be useful, but it's impossible to see it in the Modelimex image, and none of these sets appear on the LF/Kora web site yet! Second choice would be the landing gear set - the wheel wells look like an improvement, but again, it's difficult to see the other parts.
I placed an order for one of the I-16 type 29 conversion sets, so I'll see how good it is when it arrives in a week or two. I know I have said this before, but I don't understand why ICM gave up when they did - of all the Polikarpov biplanes, the I-153 is (to me) the most attractive and the best known. They even did two versions (early and late) of the obscure I-5 for which almost no markings options are available, and ignored what would be the most popular Polikarpov biplane of all. Every time I asked about it, they said "Yes, it will be done", but it has been 3 or 4 years now, and still nothing. >:( John Title: Re: New 1/72 Resin from Kora - I-153 and I-16 Upgrades/Conversions Post by: Walker on June 07, 2013, 08:01:40 PM John, just I-153 the most complex of all aircraft Polikarpov to copy.

Thanks, Musa - I know that you have some experience in this matter! ;) Well, I will continue to hope that ICM does something with the I-153; perhaps it won't be perfect but it will be better than the Heller and Amodel kits, and it will definitely be better than one I could make for myself out of pieces of other kits! :D Cheers; John |
