this photo is very beautiful. I wonder how the plane was painted. One can see that the number and the star under the wings are painted in glossy color, while the background color under the wing is matt. I think that it is painted as a night bomber. Probably the upper surfaces were black and green, the lower wing surfaces black, while a medium color looks under the fuselage and the cowlings were silver or grey or blue. my first impression was that it was similar to 'moksva', all red. At a second look, I changed my mind. I've seen some photos of Il-4 that seemed all black, but probably were camouflaged on their upper side. yes, it is interesting. My impression is that it is not a P, but a big 7 overposed to a smaller 1, probably of different colors that are not distinguishable on the bw photo. Regards Massimo |
