Hi Martin,
thank you, this looks the prewar German camo and maybe Estonian planes wore this livery.

It is a former Estonian Air Force Hs-126.

Vector includes markings for these planes in their 1:48 scale Hs-123 model.

Those are interesting aeroplanes - would make an interesting model.  Has anyone seen pictures of Gladiators in Soviet markings?  These would have been captured Latvian and Lithuanian aeroplanes (I can't remember if the Estonians had any).  A captured Latvian Hawker Hind in Soviet markings would be fascinating also.

Jason

Hi Jason,
there are three (two of Latvian ones and one of Lithuanian one) on Barbarossa Victims, pag.23.
Have you this book?

No, I haven't seen the book, Massimo, although I'm aware of it.  It sounds interesting - I should pick it up.  Thank you for the information!

Thank you gentlemen for the pictures!  It looks like I have some alternate markings for my unbuilt Gladiator and Hs-126.

Regards,

Jason

Thanks Konstantin for the profile. In the soviet option of the decal?s instructions,in my humble opinion, the red star should be closer to the wingtip.
By the way,in the picture, there?s a what looks like a triangle under the red star, could it be an estonian marking?
Greetings.

Martin

Hi!

Very interesting subject.

Pictures of Estonian Henschels are as scarce as hen's teeth. If I recall correct, they bought 10 or so Hs 126s during spring 1940 and only half of them were delivered before occupation of the country. There is a picture of one with a red star in Airlife's book "Under the Red Star" by Geust and the same one in Apali's "Red Stars 2" by Geust and Petrov. Overpainting of the Estonian triangle is clearly visible in it.

Some pictures of VVS ex-Latvian Gladiators can be found here: http://latvianaviation.com/Gladiator.html

If I recall correct, Mushroom's Gladiator book has pictures of both ex-Latvian and ex-Lithuanian Gladiators.

Cheers,

AaCee
