Title: provisional updates to LaGG-3 page
Post by: Massimo Tessitori on October 07, 2005, 11:12:04 PM
Hi,
I've uploaded three provisional files on LaGG-3. They are not yet linked by the menus. Could you have a look and let me know any suggestions, please?
They should be accessible at http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/lagg3/structure/structure.htm
http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/lagg3/chkalow04/chkalow04.htm
http:// mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/lagg3/lagg3-37/lagg3-37.htm
Please let me know any comment, including corrections to grammar errors, additions to text and images and so on. I think to link these pages from the main menus within few days.
Audrius, do you remember the names of the books from which the images were taken please?

Massimo

Well, first thing is to post the right links!? ?:D

The first link works.

The second link should be http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/lagg3/chkalow04/chkalow04.html

The third link should be http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/lagg3/lagg3-37/lagg3-37.htm

The pages look nice.? I'll read the text and give you any suggestions in a message later.? Good work, Massimo!

JP

hi Massimo,

Nice work as always!

Audrius, do you remember the names of the books from which the images were taken please?

You gave in the page the correct link. All this comes from a brochure of series "Aviakolektsiya" (Aviacollection)- "Istrebitel Lagg-3" (Figther Lagg-3) by M.V. Orlov and N.V. Yakubovich. Both quite known already by other publications.

Regarding the profile of Lagg-3-K37
You have posted the profile with camo. I would think would be wise to post as well the uniform painting profile as well as this would be most reasonable having in mind those time camo regulation etc. Let be both profiles with the enquire to discussion and oppinion exchane until we are not sure which one is the correct. That's my IMHO.

Hi Audrius, :)
thank you for your suggestion, I'll show both variants.
Do you remember or know the names of the Russian and German books from which were obtained the illustrations on the structural drawings, please? ???

hello Massimo

Do you remember or know the names of the Russian and German books from which were obtained the illustrations on the structural drawings, please? ???

Not 100% sure, but IMHO it was from "Technical describtion of aircraft's construction", Russian edition.

Great looking profiles Massimo.  As an avid (although slow) 1/72 builder, I was wondering if anyone will be producing after market decals of some of those interesting inscription markings like the one on the latest LaGG-3.

Hi, :)
I've added 3 new profiles to the page of captured and wrecked LaGG-3s.
http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/lagg3/captured/captured.htm
(http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/lagg3/captured/60-460lprt.jpg)
Besides, 3 previous profiles were corrected to fit the photos, that show the characteristics of very early production planes.
Please, let me know any suggestion.
Massimo

Impressive work, as usual, Massimo! I'm still always amazed when I see several photos of the same aircraft taken at different times, like this LaGG-3 "Blue 41", or the well-known I-16 type 28 "White 301 (307?)". It's surprising because it seems as if every Wehrmacht soldier had a camera with him during Operation Barbarossa, and plenty of time to take photographs with it. You'd think they were on a vacation, instead of fighting a war! The other thing that surprises (and delights!) me is that, even now, almost 70 years later, these photographs continue to be discovered. What else is out there, still hidden in some attic or basement? Amazing!

John

Hi John and Martin,
thank you for the compliments.
By the way, I was looking at the photos of I-16 n.301 or 307 yesterday. I wonder if it is the same plane, in some photos appears destroyed, in some other ones is intact.
Have an happy Easter
Massimo
