I've utilized Humbrol 28 on my I-153. It looks similar enough to FS-25630 given by Hornat. To tell the truth, looking at some photos of wrecks I suspect that the real color could have been a bit more bluish, but I can't be sure. Migliardy & Hornat probably obtained their AE-9 equivalent from Pilawskii and his SAFFC. In fact Pilawskii misinterpreted AE-9 with who knows what.
