Title: I-15bis page Post by: Massimo Tessitori on October 23, 2011, 10:43:47 PM Hi,
I've uploaded a page on the I-15bis at http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/i15/i15bis/i15bisevolution/i-152evolution.htm (http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/i15/i15bis/i15bisevolution/i-152evolution.htm) Please, have a look and let me know your suggestions. Regards Massimo Title: Re: I-15bis page Post by: xan on October 23, 2011, 11:10:26 PM Great!
I didn't know the pic of the white I-15bis, and the "white 68" with if very strange camouflage. If I did an another I-15 (not yet) I will do one of those two... Xan Title: Re: I-15bis page Post by: KL on October 23, 2011, 11:44:43 PM Massimo,
Where did you get mid-1937 as the beginning of the production??? Maslov says that several tens were produced in 1937 (in several documents 100 planes are mentiones as "in the process of production", while the plan for 1937 was 270 planes), all those planes were counted as 1938 production. Not likely that any of those reached VVS units during the winter 1937/1938. It is possible that first "bises" were sent to China. Spain received its I-152bis fighters only in late 1938! Quote Where did you get mid-1937 as the beginning of the production??? Red Stars volume 6 of Gordon and Dexter, p.62. Quote Units of the VVS began to receive the I-16bis in mid-1937 even before State Acceptance Trials has been passed... Regards...four volunteers squadrons were dispatched in November 1937 to the Nanchang area to support the Chinese.... I think I am like many "lurkers" here who don't participate directly very often but read just about everything on the forums and your website. I find the "evolution and painting" pages a fantastic resource and a great starting point for the interesting follow-up discussions (often between yourself and Konstantin). You are the total opposite of that "other" researcher in that you seem entirely open for debate, which in the end lead to much more and better quality information coming out. I also like how you keep reviewing the colours in your tables. Keep it up! Title: Re: I-15bis page Post by: Massimo Tessitori on October 24, 2011, 02:22:19 PM Thank you very much.

(http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/i15/i15bis/i15bisevolution/56.jpg) do you see the thing under the wingroot? I suppose that it is some sort of camera gun. Has anyone seen such a device on other photos? regards Massimo Title: Re: I-15bis page Post by: Massimo Tessitori on January 06, 2017, 04:15:40 PM Hi, after the page on Chinese I-15 bis at

I have to make a correction: plane 3 is of 70 iap, camouflaged planes are of 56 iap. Thanks to Vlad for the links with improved photos. Regards Massimo Title: Re: I-15bis page Post by: Massimo Tessitori on February 13, 2017, 09:08:51 PM Hi,

1)V.F. Abramov didn't flew I-15bis 2)Не didn't served in 11 iap vmf So most probably the unit is 71 iap vmf Title: Re: I-15bis page Post by: PG monster on November 23, 2019, 03:27:02 PM http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/i15/i15bis/tapani/winterwar/winterwar.htm
"Plane 'yellow 173' , flown by Lt. Y.A. Andreyev of 145 IAP, made a forced landing at Oulunjarvi on 24 December 1939. " - excuse my criticism, but something wrong here. 145 iap arrived to war only in 1940. Title: Re: I-15bis page Post by: Massimo Tessitori on November 23, 2019, 03:38:03 PM Hi,
Red Stars suggests 'fighter unit of the 9th army air force'. I don't remember where 145 comes out. What is the right unit in your knowledge? Regards Massimo Title: Re: I-15bis page Post by: righidan on November 24, 2019, 06:17:43 PM Dear friends,
It seems that there has been a misprint, a thing that is unavoidable when you have lots of information. From the Maslov book on the I-15bis of 2003 we find: “I - 15bis, serial number 4616, flight number “173”, from the 2nd squadron of the 152nd IAP (formerly belonged to the 4th squadron of the 19th IAP) of the 9th Army VVS, made an emergency landing on the ice of Lake Oulujärvi on 24 December 1939. The pilot, Lieutenant Y.A. Andreev, shot himself. The aircraft was fully operational and already in February 1940 was introduced into the Finnish Air Force under the designation VH-11. Later it was designated VH–2, and since 1943 - Sh–2. Had several accidents, operated until 1945” Regards Daniele Title: Re: I-15bis page Post by: Massimo Tessitori on November 25, 2019, 05:15:59 PM Hi Daniele,
thank you, I'll correct the text according to this information. Regards Massimo Title: Re: I-15bis page Post by: BLG on December 08, 2019, 12:28:36 AM Hi everybody,
I have used the nice profiles of the 173 done by Tamani to produce this model and the same plane under finnish colours in 1944 with the 1/72 ICM kit. thank you for posting these photos. They are good models, and the whole collection is impressive for being so complete. I'm happy that the profiles of Tapani have found such a good use.
