Most of it is about the nose shape relative to (and among) other MiG-23 variants. Different! Amodel has a MiG-21PD (E-7PD) as well, so with the Art Model Yak-36 and Yak-141, plus the Amodel Yak-38 and Yak-38U, one could build up quite a collection of Russian "jump jets" to add to the pyramid! actually, I believe that it is a STOL plane and requires a run to takeoff. Similar stol devices were experimented on a sort of fixed wing Su-24 too, to shorten the run as an alternative to variable geometry wings, that were chosen after the comparison tests.
