Title: Yak-9 Angular Camouflage
Post by: John Thompson on March 19, 2012, 12:34:47 AM
The very talented M. Golovanov (a regular on Scalemodels.ru) is designing and building another paper model; this time a 1/25 scale Yak-9T. The second page of his thread includes some excellent montages of photos showing how camouflage on Yak-9's compares with the 1943 template. He then produces a colour drawing showing his conclusions for the camouflage pattern on both sides and the top view of his planned Yak-9T. A very interesting and useful piece of research (especially since I'm trying to build a Yak-9 right now):

Hi John,
but... really are those pieces made by paper? It's incredible,I've never considered paper as a material suitable for scratchbuilding till now. What kind of glue does he use to sand and fill this material?

Massimo

Wow!  Those East Europeans and their paper models.  I sill find myself thinking though that they should be using God's own material, polystyrene.  I just wonder how well those paper models stand up to the ravages of time.  Still, amazing stuff!

Jason

That would look great next to my Hobby Boss IL-2 single-seater.  Again, amazing work!
