Title: "red 9" I-16 type 29 16 IAP Moscow 1941 Post by: xan on November 10, 2012, 08:06:54 AM Helo, A freind of mine is building an I-16 type 29.
Eduard proposes this decoration: (http://nsm08.casimages.com/img/2012/11/10//12111008051714768310533310.jpg) (http://www.casimages.com/img.php?i=12111008051714768310533310.jpg) with this text: It is believed this ?Red Nine? served with 16.IAP at Moscow in the tough days of fall, 1941, when the German offensive on Moscow was revved-up. The aircraft wears the standard early war (1941-1943) camouflage pattern with dark green/black upper surfaces and light blue lower surfaces. The spinner, as well as the tail tip, was painted red, and the inscription (?Death to Invaders!?) was most probably yellow. No significant weathering is seen on this aircraft. The aircraft has the early type of front cowling, with the single squared bottom right-side oil cooler air intake. I never see pics of this plane; does anyone have something about it ? Thanks Xan Title: Re: "red 9" I-16 type 29 16 IAP Moscow 1941 Post by: 66misos on November 10, 2012, 08:52:39 AM Hi Xan,
I had the same questions when building mine, see my post at http://sovietwarplanes.com/board/index.php?topic=1386.0 (http://sovietwarplanes.com/board/index.php?topic=1386.0) Let me pick up the quote from KL: Quote True, nice model. Too bad the real plane did not exist... Except in Pilavskii's imagination... Happy modeling ;)Eduard's I-16 Type 29 relayed heavily on Pilawskii - 3 out of 4 decal options are Pilawskii's interpretations (fantasies) Regards, 66misos Title: Re: "red 9" I-16 type 29 16 IAP Moscow 1941 Post by: xan on November 10, 2012, 08:15:16 PM All right, another pilawskii's collateral damage
