interesting interview. This veteran looks well in his own mind. The notes about yellow numbers are interesting. Quote - Which colors were used to paint aircraft tactical numbers in your regiment? I flew ?30? till the end of war. - Wasn't there a possibility of confusing your aircraft with German planes that carried yellow friendly recognition elements (FRE) because of this color use? No, it was not so much of a problem. - Were there FRE on your planes? A ?cap? at the fin, or perhaps the rudder was painted in a special color? Some nose art? No, nothing like that; only the tactical number. There were things like that in civil aviation. After the war I worked there. .... - Were aircraft numbers issued according to some rules? No, they were different. We just used the ones that we received. Who wrote them, I do not know. We were surprised by them ourselves. Some of the photos of the A20s show interesting painting too.
