I have seen these photos before, in one of the Red Stars books I think. But, what I just noticed is a round opening next to the 'S' in the Suvorov writing, in the top photo it looks open, in the next it has a cover. Not noticed this before, and I don't have time to search right now, but looks like a camera port? I'm sure Jason will be along shortly.... cheers T Title: Re: Il-2 "Alexander Suvorov" Post by: Massimo Tessitori on February 07, 2014, 11:10:46 PM Hi,
here is what I have on this plane, http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/il-2/il2-camo/il-2m/aleksukhin/aleksukhin.html (http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/il-2/il2-camo/il-2m/aleksukhin/aleksukhin.html) The version is quickly identified: twoseater with straight wing of Z.18, first half of 1943, well recognizable for the thin white outline on the stars and the black amoeba on the tail. The hatch... I don't know if it's for a camera, for fuel or compressed air. Anyway it is common. Regards Massimo |
