Title: Questions on a couple of I-16's.

First off this aircraft #228 all profiles I have found show it a solid green colour.

I happened to stumble across a photo of this aircraft & it looks like the tip of the tail is painted another colour. Red possibly similar to the numbers?
Anyone know what that would be or is it just faded paint?

The next one is this aircraft.

Anyone know what unit this served in & what battles?

Hi,
the numbers and star of the profile 228 look badly positioned and proportioned.
It's likely that this plane had a black nose.
I suppose that some ice is altering the look of the surfaces, including the fin.
About the second plane, the uppersurfaces can't be green, eventually another shade of white or silver.

Regards
Massimo
