Always great to see restoration work on old aeroplanes, especially Soviet ones - thank you for posting!

Best Regards,

Jason

Hi,
certainly better that to leave them in those conditions, but isn't there anyone more knowledgeable on colors with them? I suppose that such photos of the restorations will enrich the work of EP, for example to demonstrate the existance of the camo with AII dark brown.

Massimo

Hi Massimo

well, funny you should mention mr Pilawskii, as being "the expert on Soviet colours"  he gets used to advise on restorations and the correct colours, re the Il-2 and Pe-2 in Norway perhaps has been consulted by/ or offered his services to Monino,

he has this one his site, Warbird Colour Services
http://redbanner.co.uk/WCS/wcs.html

KL made a post on this here, in English.

Maybe why the Norwegian Il-2 is brown/green?

the Monino one maybe the pattern though...

but there is hope  ;)

here the airworthy one in the US!

And today I saw two Lancaster's flying together!

Which was very odd, I have seen A Lancaster flying often but two at first was like having bizzare double vision...and a bit unreal.

see what I mean? Very strange sensation at first...sorry, off topic but hopefully will amuse some members?

there is a video clip here if you scroll down.

Hi Troy,
In the case of Monino, I was only joking. In other cases, the contribute of EP is real.
I think that many restorations include brown/green camo because it was reported this way on many old books, including the cover of the Russian edition of a book of Rastrenin.
The black-green flying Il-2 is not a good choice: although based on more recent knowledges, one should say that the black-green camo was discontinued in July 1943, while the arrow-wing Il-2s were put into production around December 1943, and never had that camo.

The couple of Lancaster is great. I'll build one some day (a bit smaller, I mean).
Regards
Massimo
