Title: VVS Savoia Marchetti S.M. 79 Post by: TISO on August 25, 2014, 03:03:14 PM Interesting. Tried to find pics of this plane before but it was like searching for holly grail (everybody know it is supposed to exist but nobody really belives it).
Ex. Yugoslav SM 79 that escaped to SSSR after capitulation of Royal Yugoslav armed forces in april 1941. I've always wanted a tri-motor SM.79 for my Eastern Front collection, but I didn't think they were used there (the Italians apparently didn't use them in the Soviet Union, and the Romanian examples had two inline engines - let me know if I'm wrong about other usage of the tri-motor version on the Eastern Front). This might do the trick, if I can figure out how the Soviets repainted it. Not too hard really - probably green for the topside markings and blue for the underside markings. Excellent find, TISO!
