Title: Kozhedub La-7 restoration Post by: Tyronesdaddy on May 12, 2015, 10:42:56 PM Check out the link:
http://kot-or-osl.livejournal.com/717910.html Is this the La-7 that was on display in Monino? Title: Re: Kozhedub La-7 restoration Post by: learstang on May 13, 2015, 01:09:44 AM It appears to be. As far as I know there are only two, possibly three La-7's left in the world and one of them is in Prague (the other is on outside exhibit in Khimki in Moscow and is probably a mockup of some sort), and the third is Kozhedub's La-7. But I wonder who put the yellow on the propeller tips - that wasn't the Soviet practice during the GPW. Still, nice to see the old bird getting some attention!

yes, it's written that it's a restoration of his plane. It is cetainly a great improvement over the previous livery. Anyway, the painting of the propeller and of the landing gear is at least questionable. Jason, have you received my profile of this very plane? I've made an improved version. Regards Massimo Title: Re: Kozhedub La-7 restoration Post by: learstang on May 13, 2015, 07:18:38 AM Yes I did Massimo; sorry I haven't gotten back to you about it. I've been concentrating on my Tu-2 book, but now I'm back on my Lavochkin book. The profile looks great, but are you sure about that little venturi tube on the lower fuselage in between the main wheels?

it's reported on the drawings of MBI, but it is always unvisible between the doors when the uc is down. I think it's reliable, but we can check on some walkarounds. Regards Massimo Title: Re: Kozhedub La-7 restoration Post by: Massimo Tessitori on May 28, 2015, 09:10:08 PM Hi,
not about Kozhedub's plane, but there are two interesting photos of a wing of La-7 without skin and a fin of Yak-11, the latter apparently with its original color. http://www.reaa.ru/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1178531913 (http://www.reaa.ru/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1178531913) Regards Massimo Title: Re: Kozhedub La-7 restoration Post by: learstang on June 24, 2015, 12:30:08 AM It's interesting to see that much of an La-7 wing preserved - I wonder where the rest of the aeroplane is.

Quote Unfortunately there were only in the Czech Republic and in Monino. In Khimki is layout, and not from ludshe I see, it's an all metal mockup. It has only a superficial resemblance to a La-7.http://www.flying-legends.ru/ru/images/La-7_at_Khimki_4.JPG Regards Massimo Title: Re: Kozhedub La-7 restoration Post by: Johann on September 04, 2015, 07:53:51 AM That's right.
