Title: I-250 / MiG-13

Here's something you don't see every day!? A mixed piston/jet arrangement like the US Ryan Fireball.

From this web page http://www.aviation.ru/MiG/

It says it was in service, but then gives two different retirement dates.

Hi John, :)
the engine arrangement of I-250 was very particular. A piston engine VK-107R moved both the propeller and the compressor of a reaction engine without turbine.
The image depicts the first prototype. It is very well described on Mikoyan's piston- engined fighters, the same book of Gordon and Dexter that describes the MiG-3 too.

I've seen a new resin model of I-250 made by Omega.  :o It looks beautiful, but I left if because it costs about 33 ?.

Wow, not a very standard subject.

I'm guessing 1/72 scale?  Eur33 is a LOT for something that small!

Yes, but resin kits are on that level of price. I left it even if it was interesting. Omega has a good choice of Soviet prototypes. :o
On other occasions, I left I-30, Il-1, I-231, I-Z... The only one that I was intersted to buy for that price (the Polikarpov ITP) was already sold out. I hope in Amodel, it has already done many Polikarpovs and I guess that I-185 and ITP could come within few years.

I would like to know more of these kits of the Il-1 and I-30

Perhaps you will find something on the site of Jan Koennig, Jetmodell.de. It is an online shop, and has some models of this firm.
The first look of them was good, I left the I-30 because its canopy was badly moulded, but this defect could have been of that box only. About Il-1, I had the impression that it could be obtained by modifying an Il-10, but I don't know exactly their differences, apart for the canopy.

Omega has a good choice of Soviet prototypes.

Unfortunately they are all made very rude and too expensive for such poor quality.
