Today suddenly discovered that the serial IL-4 with a metal swept wing, here at this photo, painted gray-gray camouflage by 1944 standart scheme. this is a very interesting discovery, Is the undersurface black or blue, in your opinion? It would be good to make some statistics on how many photos show metallic arrow wings after 1943, how many straight wings and how many are unclear. According to the texts, the number of arrow planes should be substantial. Generally, this is the only history photo of the late IL-4 with an arrow wing, which I am 100% sure. Fortunatly, Il-4 at Poklonnaya gora (mountain) museum at Moskow, is such type. By performing a combat mission, the crew consisting of pilot Moiseyev, navigator Yaqin, air gunners Babin and Fofanov, the Maritime Group of Forces on the night of August 9, 1945 came under fire anti-aircraft artillery of the Japanese Kwantung Army near the Harbin city. Plane was hit to one of the engines and made an emergency landing in the forest. The aircraft was found in 1977, evacuated and restored only in 1991. Junior lieutenant Anatoly Moiseyev for an emergency landing on the burning plane was awarded the Order of Patriotic War I level. It have original airframe, engines, rear turret and landing gear. External part of cockpit is fake, engine cowlings from An-2 (LOL). Beautiful, absolutely intact wingtips these bastards just cut because wings do not fit to train! thank you for the informations. Has someone obtained a drawing of the wings from this plane? Probably it's possible to modify existing drawings by photoshopping, once confirmed that the metal wings had an arrow shape. thank you for these images. It's interesting to see clearly the arrow wings. The second image shows some camouflage, visible on the tail and on the nose. I think that it was a 3 shades camo as usual. Regards Massimo It seems, I'm the first one who is seriously advanced on this issue, over the past 20 years :) The only arrow wing drawing (wood), made by I.Rodionov, but he's made serious mistake, and its drawing is wrond. And it was blind copied by overs, ha ha.
