Title: Spiral on Yak prop spinner Post by: 66misos on June 21, 2020, 12:00:46 PM Hi,
seems that white spiral on red prop spinner was quite popular on Yaks at the end of war: 1.) Yak-3, Ermokhin, 402 iap: (http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/yak3/misos/ermokhin/Pict20.jpg) (http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/yak3/misos/ermokhin/Pict19.jpg) 2.) Yak-9x, 900 iap: (http://ava.org.ru/iap/900/nos_900_iap.jpg) probably/reportedly this Golovachev's Yak-9M: (http://massimotessitori.altervista.org/sovietwarplanes/pages/yak9/misos/golovachev/Pict02.jpg) 3.) Maybe it was useful to hypnotize enemy pilots.

that spinner looks black with white spiral like on German Bf-109. However, the face of Golovatchev is also pretty dark, Is it due to filter/photo material and spinner is red? But we see the spirals used in 900 iap, so very decorated Golovachev's plane should had spiral too. "Highly likely". And I vote for red color :) And the logic votes too, I think! Title: Re: Spiral on Yak prop spinner Post by: PG monster on June 22, 2020, 07:03:19 AM to hypnotize enemy pilots. That's not conventional method of warfare! Unknown unit (wrong name and number) but cool plane Title: Re: Spiral on Yak prop spinner Post by: Massimo Tessitori on September 28, 2020, 08:30:03 PM Could it be after the war? There is no trace of camouflage, the uppersurface looks uniformly green or dark grey.
