Title: P39Q-5BE yellow 93 Cpt A. Filatov
Post by: mc65 on December 15, 2020, 03:45:23 AM
some time ago, after reading E. Mariinskiy's "Red star airacobra", I bought the special hobby 1/32 kit of this plane without much expectations, both from me and from the model: I just wanted to build a plane that I had already done (Monogram 1/48) as a boy and do it without too many headaches.
but when I opened the box I was struck by the potential of the kit, and I added Eduard interiors and flaps and resin wheels, and after a quick build, I focused on the colors, which I wanted faded and worn.
and here we are, if I understand how to upload the images.

P-39Q-5-BE, serial #42-20414, yellow 93, Cpt. Alexander Filatov, 30th GIAP; Poland, autumn 1944.

Hi Paolo,
thank you for sharing the photos (well, the  links...) of this beautiful model. I wait to see your I-16 as well. Now I'm just working on  color drawings of this type.
Regards
Massimo

my pleasure!

this morning I found more kit's photos in the pc archive. nothing decisive, however.

speaking of photos, I don't understand why I can't load them: I copied the image code and after highlighting it I pressed the "insert image" key, but without results.

Hi,
I don't know about Flickr, but many years ago I utilized another storage site that created an apposite link with a thumbnail for the forums.
I wonder if such a thing could be created by Flickr too.
Regards
Massimo

You need to look at your Flickr settings.   to the right of the image are 3 icons , star, right pointing arrow (share), down pointing arrow to a line (download)
the share button is greyed out, so you need to adjust your account  settings to allow sharing.

You should then get a box with options at the top,  look for BB code, at the right, copy and paste that.  Here I think you will need to paste that into the image box .

i extracted this one,  lovely build, lots of fine detail on enlargement.

Beautiful model and excellent work, Sir! I just finished the same subject using the Academy 72d scale kit and aftermarket decals from Russia (apologies--"senior moment"--I can't remember the brand but it was a sheet full of VVS P-39 options). Looking forward to seeing more of your work here!

Fantastic work! Very, very nice--I strongly prefer authentic weathering as opposed to the "artistic" approach that's so popular these days and you captured that very well.
I just finished this same scheme in 72d (awaiting a clear coat and such weathering as I use) so I'm familiar with the topic. Once again--very nice and welcome to the forum!
