Title: Polikarpov R-5 Scratchbuild

Amazing scratchbuild article of a 1/72 Polikarpov R-5:

The translation is not very good, but the photos are truly impressive!

Hi John,
and here are some photos of the cockpit of a Kor-1 of the same author. He made a beautiful He-70 too.

From this thread on Scalemodels.ru, it appears that maybe the R-5 parts in the Dishmodels article might somehow become masters for new 1/72 kits from either South Front or ICM - the online translation is hard to understand:

Wow - I hope so! A series of kits of the R-5 family would sure keep my Visa card busy! ;)

These authors name is Valentin Muchichko. He is very famous in Russia and Ukraine, the author models. In his master models are made to suit the I-1,TB-3, SB, Ki-27 ICM.

Hmmm - so he does a lot of work for ICM, does he? Very interesting! Maybe he might be working on a 1/72 I-153 for them some time soon! ;)

And a La-9/11? Don't forget this beautiful plane. I hope that more decent kits will be released.

John, you and your Chaika!  I do have to agree with you on that one, though.  And whilst we have someone working on an accurate I-153 in 1/72nd scale, how about someone doing one in 1/32nd scale!  Instead of another Bf-109, say (what are there, 100 different kits of the Bf-109 in 1/32nd scale now?).

Regards,

Jason

I think that anymore. ICM has moved to technology 3D modeling master models. Rejecting all of the handcrafted items.

Hi Musa! That is interesting, and I don't know if it is good news or bad news. It appears that the older handcrafted masters were truly great works of craftsmanship, judging by the finely-detailed kits which resulted - I-16, I-15, Su-2. Perhaps the new method will allow ICM to produce their molds more quickly and possibly issue new kits more often. I hope they don't forget about 1/72 scale!

Hi John! Unfortunately the tendency towards transition to the scale of 1:48 and foreign aircraft types.
