Hi

Just got one of these off ebay UK, I'd never even heard of it until I spotted the auction by chance (I browse model kits 1/48)

EDIT - well, a little further checking has revealed that if the published dimensions of the Su-1 are right, that while the kit looks good shape wise it's not 1/48, a quick check gets me a scale of about 1/57th  Angry
maybe that's why I'd never heard of it!

anyway, here's some more info.

the build mentions the rough surface and lack of the very obvious in photos circular supercharger.

Anyone know anything else about this kit?  and does anyone have any info on the cockpit  or wheel wells ?

More searching showed the AER SRL MOLDOVA produced mostly Armour and a few boats, I think this was the only 1/48th plane which seems a weird subject to choose...

cheers

Hi Troy,
for what I know, the only documents available on Su-1 and 3 are three photos each, plus a good drawing from Modelist konstructor that is probably avaliable on the web. I'm sure that they already had the drawing to make the model, pity for the odd choice of the scale reduction.

I recall seeing that "off-scale" problem with this kit mentioned elsewhere - Scalemodels.ru, perhaps? Here's the set of Su-1 drawings Massimo refers to:
http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw/su1.html

Su-1/Su-3 photo page on the OKB Sukhoi site:

Maybe the release of the Amodel 1/72 kits of the Su-1 and Su-3 will prompt further attention to these aircraft.

Here's the Scalemodels.ru thread regarding the Aer Moldova Su-1:

Hi John,
this is a good thread, reporting all the known photos and drawings, plus one that I didn't know. The photos of the belly-landed Su-1 are new for me.

Necroposting: I got my hands on one for cheap, did all the measurements, and indeed the scale is about 1/57 Sad
It matches the drawings from Modelist-Konstructur which are underscale and seem to be the origin of the problem...
The model shows promise, unfortunately the difference is such that it can not be displayed alongside other 1/48 planes.

Hi,
i saw that kit some time ago and indeed it looked very small for an 1/48 plane. Pity, it wasn't bad except for this.
Maybe the author of the drawings made them right, but they were scaled down to match the available space in the magazine.  I saw a similar thing on another case.
