Hi friends,
I didn't know that kit. It looks good enough, however I'll wait for ICM that should be released within the year.
The work on your model looks really accurate and careful, so I understand your interest for photoetched details for I-153.

thanks gonza, i would have the surprise openning the box ! i like it ! anyway it's a kit to have when you are making a VVS collection !
i'm sure that ICM kit will be easier to bild because it's all styrene kit.
just a question gonza ...is the AMC good in shape ? have you compare already AMG and classis airframes I-153 48? kits ?

IMHO: There was no yet a ICM's kit, I consider the I-153 AMG of the best, unequivocally!!!

There one minus - an engine cowl. It short (the early version) and a jalousie closed (I am not assured that correctly was expressed on english.)

There are in open access three Books of Technical Specification I-153. They very much help with modeling doing its fascinating!

You guys are doing great! We all depend on Google Translate - for a person like me who can't read Russian, Google Translate is absolutely necessary if you are an enthusiast of Russian aircraft!  Cheesy

Regarding the 1/48 I-153, I have the Flashback kit. On the box the text says that it was a reissue of an early kit by Eduard. The main parts (fuselage halves, wings, cowling face, etc.) look identical to images of the AMG kit in the thread that GoNzA posted. The arrangement of the parts on the sprues is different, and the main part of the cowling is only two pieces, instead of four in the AMG kit. There is no white metal - small parts like landing gear are plastic. There are some photoetched parts, but not as many or as detailed as the AMG version. Resin parts are included for cockpit details, RS-82 rockets, and skis (there are two decal options, one Russian and one Finnish, both for aircraft equipped with skis).

I'm guessing that all the existing 1/48 I-153 kits are based on the Eduard main parts; these are very well molded and detailed. I'm sure you will enjoy the AMG version when you receive it!

(...and "jalousie" makes good sense - it means a kind of window shutter or covering, so the meaning regarding the I-153 cowling face, with its "shutters" to control engine temperature, is perfectly understandable! Wink )

Yes, in Russian one word is applied to them - jalousie (жалюзи).

But I don't know, how correctly word for them in English engineering specifications.

The best I can think of is "adjustable temperature control dampers" or "adjustable temperature control shutters". Maybe someone else has a better suggestion?

Above I have written: "There are in open access three Books of Technical Specification I-153. "
But I have looked for it by Google and haven't found good links.
You will probably have the same problem.

I-153 TO part 1 (ZIP, 34 Mb)
I-153 TO part 2 (ZIP, 21 Mb)
I-153 TO part 3 (ZIP, 46 Mb)
I-153 TO I-153 graphic (ZIP, 4 Mb)

Files will be stored till the May, 16th, 2011, each downloading of files prolongs their period of storage for 30 days.
