Hey Kikko! There's no such thing as silly questions. Just off the top of my head, the changes required to make an early MiG-3 into a late one are:
(1) Add slats to the leading edges of the wings
(2) Different style of pitot tube (because of the slats)
(3) Slight difference in shape of stabilizers/elevators (probably not noticeable enough to bother with)
(4) Louvres (air outlets) on fuselage sides below cockpit
(5) Full-length fairings over two outer guns on cowling top
(6) Fairing or shield over first exhaust stack on both sides

Those are the major ones and a couple of the minor ones; comparison of drawings for early and late types will help guide you. Massimo's "Mushroom Press" book is the best reference available on the MiG-3.

Online drawings:
This set is probably the easiest to use to determine differences between early and late:
http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw2/mig3pol.html

This set details the whole history of the MiG-3 family, from prototypes to MiG-1 to MiG-3 to MiG-9/I-210:
http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw2/mig3-3.html

This is worth reading, and may be helpful; ignore any source which says the early MiG-3 and late MiG-3 had different nose lengths - they were both the same:

Massimo's early MiG-3 page:
http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/MiG-3early.html

Massimo's late MiG-3 page:
http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/latemig-3.html

Have fun!

John
