Modified profile colours (AMT 7, 11, 12):


P-40 EF Photo recce modification.
I made the P-40 sketch with PSP, over Valeriy I.Bullas profile from "Red Stars 4"
Colour samples are from "VVS paintbox". Original profile colours were DG/DE /Sky.

Hi Saivila,
thank you for posting this drawing. It's a very interesting variation.

In the photo, the spinner looks partially painted white. Perhaps a trick, as Germans did, to put in evidence the rotation of the propeller.

Nice reworked colour profile, Saivila - thank you for posting!  I've always liked that one-off conversion of the P-40K.  I wish someone made a conversion kit in 1/72nd scale.  And welcome to the site!

Yes ,i have seen another profile too. That pic looks that it's a mirror image. Pitot tube and landing light are normally on the left wing.
But without a doubt it's a same bird.

I think it's the same aeroplane as I believe the Soviets made only one such conversion.

Nice profile, but I'm a bit dubious about a complete repaint in VVS colours.

A lot of P-40K's were destined for the RAF, and supplied in US applied RAF colours, see

I have seen very little evidence for repainting of lend-lease aircraft during the GPW apart from winter camouflage or repairs.

This is not a RAF camo anyway. It's clerly visible on those bw pics. On the other hand, lines fits with
vvs fighter standards for example  Yak 9  This one  has been a huge conversion and lots of paintwork
must have been done anyway. Painwork looks quite factory fresh.
