Hi,

I was hoping someone could help.  I'm building an RC Yak-1 and wanted to do Baranov's White-1.  However in viewing the Osprey Yakovlev Aces of WWII book #64 in the close up Black & white pic's. of his plane.  It looks like it could be a Red-1 as it seems to match the Red star on the fuselage.  Is that possible?  Any thoughts?
I appreciate any help.

Thanks,
MtFlyR

Hi, Smiley
I think that it's possible. They look really of the same shade, at a first look.
I'm uncertain on the writing. It looks white, but on the star it looks lighter. I have seen some examples of red writings thar become white on the star. I can't exclude this for this plane. Huh

Any thoughts?

Hi, Smiley
it looks an interesting menu, but 200 Mb each is by far too much for my connection. Has anyone downloaded them?

Hi Oleg,
have you managed to extract static images from those videos? Maybe there is something particularly interesting...

Thank You for providing those links, I'll have to download the rest of them when I have a spare week !? LOL !
Massimo, the reason they take so long is because it runs 53 minutes long.
that's why the files are so big.

it looks to me that the '1' was originally white and then later the red? might have been added to look like a red 1 with a white border around it.
the inscription also has some mysteries about it.
it seems white in some images and yellow in others.
anyone building the new Eduard re-issue of the Accurate Miniatures kit will be pleasantly surprised as they provide both versions on the decal sheet.

personally I think I will do mine in yellow to to see how it goes.
as for the number Eduard makes the red one the same size as the white one so I think I will have to scavenge the decal box to see if I can find a suitable replacement.

hi MtFlyr
have you read this thread http://sovietwarplanes.com/board/index.php?topic=77.msg479#msg479 on same board, under "Model kits" ? There is some info on Baranov's Yak1.
I would repeat that if I were you I would make inscriptions red with white outline, the number would leave white.
