Hello everybody.

After the I-15bis, my new project is build at the same time three yak-9 I had in my stock...
Three very different models to build quite similar planes.
two yak-9T and a yak-9D, All the three beeing normandie-niemen's group planes.

the commandant Pouyade's Yak9-T:

the de saint-Phalle's yak-9D:

the de la Poype Yak-9T:

I would like use this topic to ask you the doubt I have during the mount of the models

I compared the model  and started my work.
You can see the pics (and use google tradictor) in this link:
http://www.master194.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=64797

I'm working with the cockpit and precisely with the left side.

I use beautiful this walk-around, but it's a Yak-9 early...

I'm using the akan's A-14, am'I wrong ?

it's the colout whe can see in the mus?e de l'air's Yak-3...

One other thing:

in this pic, the wheel used to active the flettner have another little wheel above:

Excellent work, xan! I wanted to direct you to the "Pakuro" walkaround, but you have already found it - it's very good! I bookmarked your thread from the Master194 forum and I'll be watching your progress with much interest. Right now I am working on the old and nasty 1/72 Yak-9 from Alanger/ICM/Encore, so I'm hoping to learn (and gain inspiration!) from your 1/48 projects.

I tried to find information regarding the small wheel you asked about. The book "Yak-9 - Soldier of the Sky" has cockpit detail drawings for an early Yak-9 and for a Yak-9 of the 35th production series. The early Yak-9 drawing shows this small knob (without identifying its purpose); the later one does not. My guess (and it's only a guess!) is that it was not required on the Yak-9T...  Huh Looking at an on-line image of the Yak-3 cockpit, here also the knob is not shown. So, whatever its purpose might have been (a way of locking the trim tab setting, perhaps?), it seems that early Yaks had it and later ones did not. Perhaps someone with better knowledge will arrive to help! Wink

This might be useful to you; I already had made scans of details of the Yak-9 radio installations for someone on another forum some time ago. These sketches are from "Yak-9 - Soldier of the Sky":

Cheers!

Oops - duh - my stupid mistake - sorry! Well, you can probably do a lot better than to follow my advice, now that I've demonstrated my idiocy, but if it was me, I'd just say that one photo of a Yak-9T cockpit should be good for all Yak-9T's, but that's just my reckless 1/72 opinion - I keep forgetting that everything is 50% bigger in 1/48... Cheesy

Xan - I noticed your post on Scalemodels.ru regarding the oil cooler housing on the ICM 1/48 Yak-9. I just did the same modification on the ICM (Alanger, Encore) 1/72 Yak-9. Better drawings may help you; here are the ones from "Yak-9 - Soldier of the Sky":
http://www.airwar.ru/other/draw/yak9-1.html

There might also be something among the 1/48 build articles on the Scalemodels.ru site:
