Thanks Audrius, Smiley good work as usual.
It looks that the Il-2 has green uppersurfaces, and traces of white paint manually removed from the nose, isn't it?

hi Massimo
I suppose you are right. There was a white camo cleaned off.

Hi, Smiley
interesting image. Thank you for sharing.
Look at the rivets or screws on the spinner. I suspect that, for some parts of some planes, the old Airfix rivet style is better than recent recessed panel lines.

hello board
on ebay has appeared a lot of extremely rare and interesting picture of Mig-3 captured and to be used by Luftwaffe.
There is a link to lot (in a case someone would like to bid): http://cgi.ebay.de/Fotohttp://i9.ebayimg.com/05/i/07/98/1b/6e_3.JPG-Flugzeug-Messerschmitt-mit-Staffelabz-Legion_W0QQitemZ320004958311QQihZ011QQcategoryZ15504QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And the picture itself:

and

and the back of it. Can anyone read it?

Hi Audrius Smiley
thank you very much. Who knows if this is the same plane of the image of Jan Van Den Heuvel? I have to check the profile. I wonder if he knows this one.
There is written Wilhelm inv 4 on the back of the image. Probably Wilhelm was the pilot appearing on the image.
Note that, on this photo, the lower part of the engine cowling is of the same color of the upper part. It seems an argument in favour of a yellow nose, later repainted with some darker shade after some damage.
If it is the same plane...
Ciao

hi Massimo,
for sure the image is very interesting.

Who knows if this is the same plane of the image of Jan Van Den Heuvel?

I have checked this already and it seems not the same Mig-3 to be. The distinctive sign is the interesting mark on the left cowling of the engine. Who knows what it could be mean?

Hi Audrius, Smiley
yes, it's interesting.
I am still wondering if the gun sleeves visible on the recesses on the engine cowling (not on this image of course) are the same that we see here on the gun barrels or separate pieces. I suppose that they are different, I never saw them painted with light shades on external photos.
