It might also be the film or other things affecting the colour, here are a couple of other DE/DG US painted early P-51's for comparison

AL958 was the first plane of the second order of 300 planes (designated NA-83).

Good images, Konstantin.
A photo is dated oct.1942, but the marks with the red round should have been replaced much before. Isn't it strange?

Regarding those two Mustangs on colour photos:

First series plane AG345 began with flight testing on May/01/41


First plane of the second order of 300 AL958 began with flight testing on  Feb/13/42


Future Soviet NA-73 AG348 began with flight testing on Sept/19/41.
