Guys,

when I see at those pictures I'm stunned that you even see which color it is considering that the're in black and white. Huh
This may be a stupid remark from someone who leaves such things to experts.
Nevertheless such conversations brings always a mix of what's real and what's not.
I merely see things in a modelers view because where trying to create something as realistic as possible.
I just keep the fun in trying to improve my skills. And if my color isn't a 100% match so what?
But I'll try to make it as realistic as possible.

@Jason,
I hope that you make a B-24 with polka dots. Cheesy

Michel,
We can't see colours on B/w photos.  Nobody can do that, not even E. Pilawskii.
We can only apply some historical facts.  We know when different camouflage schemes were introduced, we know what paints were used at different times.  Dating photos, distinguishing between different aircraft types, etc also helps.

Happy modelling,

Hi Guys.

I think this plane is not painted in a very strange way. As we know, MK-7 paint used to deteriorate the surface and affect the flight/aerodynamics characteristics. Moreover, and this I consider as very important, this paint had to be mixed before applied on the surface. If the mix ratio strictly followed the recommendations, the original camouflage slightly showed through. I believe in this case the mixing procedure was not 'perfect' and the "summer" camo showed through more. And why are the top areas 'whiter' than side ones? Snow looks reasonable I think.

Kind regards
Viktor

Hi Viktor,
take in account that the difference in shades of white is visible on the vertical surface of the tail too, and this is certainly not due to snow.
