For those of you who prefer the smaller scale, according to the link below:

Urrah!  A new wooden-fuselaged metal-winged arrow in 1/72nd scale!  Wonderful news, thank you very much for posting!  Now if they'll also upscale it to 1/32nd scale.  And do a straight-winged two-seater in all scales, and a single-seater...

Best Regards,

Jason

TD, here's a link Xan posted on another thread - http://www.hlj.com/product/tam60781  If the price stays at $19.76USD that is very reasonable for what I'm sure will be a beautiful kit.

After many years of waiting this kit is finally being released:

Funny how 1/72 Il-2 kits seem to be released in bunches. With the way Tamiya releases 2 boxings of mold I bet we'll see a straight wing Il-2 from them also, and it won't take 6 years for it to be released.

Great to see Academy finally release this, as they've been sitting on the moulds for years!  Looks like another kit on my must-have list.  I'd still like to see Tamiya upscale to 1/32nd scale; the Hobby Boss kits are nice, but the Tamiya 1/48th scale kit is more accurate.  With the eminent release of the Tamiya arrow in 1/72nd scale, we will now have three top-notch 1/72nd scale kits of all three versions of the Shturmovik in 1/72nd scale (although I wish the Academy single-seater did not have the metal fuselage!).  Oh well, I guess I'll just have to delay the release of my book until I get the Tamiya arrow and the Academy straight-winged two-seater.  Interesting that they've chosen to tackle "White 24", a very unusually-painted Il-2, although it seems to me that their guess at the scheme is a decent one.

Looks very nice, apart for the spinner. I'll certainly buy it. I hope that it has the tunnel canopy too included in the kit, else the possibility to build a plane of the first half of 1942 is very limited.
Am I wrong, or the painting is just as my recent profile at http://sovietwarplanes.com/board/index.php?topic=1444.0?

It is suspiciously similar, Massimo, almost identical, in fact.  No wonder I thought it looked like a good interpretation.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Hi Misos,
yes. Just they omitted a pair of fragments of grey bands that I've guessed because I think that the rear fuselage is from a 3-shades plane, and it's difficult that it's nearly all green. Dark grey and green are often undistinguishable in photos.
