Hi,

A friend of mine asked me about a propeller blade found forty years ago in North of France, from a German aircraft wreck. Markings on this blade appears to be russian! It seems that it could came from an I-153. Some of these were used by German, apparently.

Here are some pics of the blade:

Maybe someone here could say more about this mysterious thing?

Thanks to you,

Hi Pascal,  Smiley
Thank for the interesting photos!

It looks that your friends blade is just over 140cm long.  Huh blured pictures...

It can not be I-153 because its propeller had diameter = 2.8m.  No room for shaft and mechanism between the shaft and the propeller.
It's more likely propeller from German Avia B-71.  Its propeller had diameter of 3.25m.  Avia target tugs were based in Holland.

HTH,
KL

Hi,
it's too strange that a Czech-built plane has inscriptions in cyrillic. It's certainly a Soviet-made plane.

It's certainly a Soviet-made propeller blade.
Not all Avia B-71s were "Czech-built" - some 60 planes were bought in Soviet Union in 1938.

A photo to support French connection:

Nice photo! With a rare colour view of a Bloch MB.152... It proves that some A-71 were also in France. Thank you again!
