HI

A useful set of posts, they are from the Finnish Armed Forecs archive, here
http://sa-kuva.fi/

they have digitised 160,000 phoptos and they are available to search, though by their original captions, a Finnish poster on Britmodeller [or maybe Hyperscale, Kari Lumppio i think] notes that the Finnish was quite archaic and was difficult for a native speaker....

http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234938983-finnish-wartime-photograph-archive/
from Brimodeller member Daniel Cox
Quote
David Aiken posted a link on the Hyperscale Plane Talking Forum about the Finnish Wartime Photograph Archive it is well worth visiting, the images further below are some of what I found following ten minutes of putting in search terms on their website. Please note however that you need to use Finnish terms since English will not work although manufacturers names like Brewster, Fiat, Fokker Focke, Gloster and Morane for example bring up some results while Hawker does not.

It is also worth noting that these images at least the ones I have seen are around 4900 pixels across one side are also watermarked and are only 8 bit sRGB jpg files. If you are after better quality files lest watermarks contact details are provided for the archive.

To start people off I suggest the following search terms will bring up some worthwhile results; Suulaj?rvi, tyyppisi?, h?vitt?ji?, Suomalainen, sy?ksypommittajia & Lentolaivueen amongst others.

Hope of use
T

Here are some photographs that were not on the original posters' link. You may download a high-quality version by searching the photograph by its identification number listed below at sa-kuva.fi.

7358. A TB-3 forced down at Kuhmo during the Winter War in March 1940.

2829. 8 January 1940. The tail number of one of the rather famous Tupolevs shot down by Lt. Sarvanto.

1661. Photographed during the Winter War.

20616. 25 June 1941. This later became a Finnish Air Force plane.

156695. A shot down IL-2 at Varpaj?rvi in August 1944.

161815. Another IL-2 at Rukaj?rvi, also in August 1944.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
