I am now working on the rockets and rails. There is a good drawing in Massimo's book on page 120, but I don't understand what is the object with a hole at the front end of the rails. Are there any good pictures of these weapons?
What about colors? Unpainted metal, gray primer, undersurface color for the rails...?

Hi Otto,
here you can find good images of the rails and rockets from wrecks. They are certainly better than a drawing.

Great link Massimo, Thank you!
This drawing

shows rectangular rails while most pictures show tubular rails. I would like to use this shape because I could use Trumpeter rails with minor modifications. It is shown on this page of the link: http://scalemodels.ru/modules/forum/viewtopic_t_6048_start_420.html but I can't understand the Russian comments. May anybody, possibly KL, help me?

Hi Otto,

it says that it was an alternative.
There are lots of photos of wrecks reachable from this:

Work is slowly progressing on my MiG-3. I used Tamiya flat white as a primer and, after some preshading, I sprayed Gunze gloss white, painted the different panels and applied the decals. I drew the black numbers on the pc and printed them on Tauro clear decal sheet with a laser printer.
I also painted the red star on the spinner, but it needs some touch-up.
Next steps will be fixing and painting undercarriage details and overall weathering.

I finally finished my MiG-3. Due to the well known site problems, as suggested by Massimo, I post the link instead of pictures:

I hope next year will be better for all!  Roll Eyes

Great work, the detail is very impressive and the pilot figure really works.

Cheers
