Back to pin-up - if assume it as a female picture this is the first one that i had ever actually seen in VVS.

It is surprising - it's the first one I've seen. The VVS was rather more prudish than the RAF or the USAAF when it came to portrayals of the female form on their aircraft. Then again, I saw a GPW aeroplane with St. George slaying the dragon (a religious theme), which I thought rather odd for an aircraft of the officially atheist Soviet Union. As I read further, I read that it was the seal or emblem of the city of Moscow.

I think in Red Stars 4 there are photos of P-39's with pin-up artwork, though possibly left in the planes by Americans.

photos of "Soviet P-39 with a pin-up" were posted at http://scalemodels.ru/modules/forum/viewtopic_t_12_start_380.html

pin-up was identified as the famous Soviet actress Valentina Serova...

Hi Konstantin,
interesting photos indeed.
Misos, what do you think of a profile of this plane?

Hi,
Konstantin, thanks a lot for remind this Soviet pin-up. I have that photo, but somehow I forgot it.
Massimo, I already thought about profile of this plane a time ago. But I could not find a photo showing tail with/without serial number and/or unit marking. Plus that pin-up is not visible enough.

Hi Misos, shouldn't part of the serial be visible on the photo, if any?

Hi Massimo,
I decided to continue discussion about P-39 pin-up in P-39 thread at http://sovietwarplanes.com/board/index.php?topic=1714.msg15302#msg15302 as this is thread about Lavochkin.
