Something is happening out threre, check at
http://www.aml.cz/

Cheers,
Libor

Thanks, Libor! Seems that the decal sheet for the La-5 is already available separately:
http://www.modelimex.com/inshop/scripts/detail.asp?itemid=21590&Level=137
...and also the "La-5FN Czechoslovak Legends" sheet:
http://www.modelimex.com/inshop/scripts/detail.asp?itemid=21321&Level=137
There's also another sheet, which is devoted to "Valeriy Chkalov" La-5 aircraft:
http://www.modelimex.com/inshop/scripts/detail.asp?itemid=21591&Level=137
I'm not sure why the markings are reproduced in both white and possibly silver - maybe they are meant to be applied in two layers to make the white appear brighter?
(I love Modelimex - they're great! Needless to say, I already have these on order... Wink)

When I look at the AML pages for both of the two new kits, I get "red X's" for the most interesting part - the new sprues with the fuselage components! Sad The wing sprue is the same as the La-5UTI.

Cheers!

Hi,  Smiley
I think that silver is their hypothesis on the strange color appearing on some planes.
Darker than white, lighter than red.
It's traditionally identified as yellow.
In my page, I've expressed the therory that it could be thin oversprayed red and thin oversprayed white.
It could have been light blue too (always hypothetically).
Now, this new hypothesis suggests that it could have been silver.

Yes, I think you must be right. I received the two AML 1/72 VVS La-5 decal sheets today, thanks to fast service from Modelimex, and on the La-5 "Soviet Aces" sheet (AMLD 72 049), all of the markings for Chkalov-squadron aircraft are offered in both white and silver (except one - the donation inscription for the starboard side of "White (Silver) 60" is only given in silver). The white seems very thinly-printed. On the other sheet (AMLD 72 038, titled only "Lavochkin La-5"), there are two more Chkalov aircraft. One is "Red 58"; the other is what I would have called "White 69"; however, markings for "White 69" are given in silver only! So, now we have another source of uncertainty and argument - is it white or is it silver! Wink
