Seat, instrument panel and other cockpit details from a Vector set; vacuform sliding canopy from Pavla; otherwise OOB. AKAN paints for the exterior; my own mix of Model Master enamels for interior A-14 Steel Gray. Decals from AML. Markings are for a plane flown by ace Vladimir Serov of 159 IAP, Leningrad front, in 1944. Inscriptions identify it as one of a number of La-5s built with "donations" from collective workers in the Gorky region and named "Escadrille Valery Chkalov" in honor of the famed Russian test pilot. Serov achieved 39 individual and 8 shared victories (numbers vary in different sources) before being killed on June 26, 1944, when he rammed a Bf 109G.

Cheers,
Pip

Beautiful model - you have a great eye for detail! I love seeing Chkalov squadron La-5's.

Beautiful job, Pip!  I'm finishing up the very same aeroplane in 1/72nd scale.  Looking at this may inspire me to finally finish it!

Jason

Hi Seawinder,

really very very nice. When I see it I would like to build another La-5, now in summer camouflage.
