Never seen an I-16 with the arrows painted on the sides like this partial photo of a 57th Guards I-16.
Any photos or models showing this aircraft I am coming up blank on this.

Very interesting I-16. Seems that the arrow could have been painted white, then passed with a dark color leaving visible brush strokes. Or, could it be a defect of the photo?

The Spitfires this unit used right after the I-16 the arrows were painted in yellow.
I think it may be the same on the I-16.
