Hello,
One of my future project is a Yak-3 flown by A. I. Koldunov in 866 IAP.
I found some informations about a Yak-3 n?1711 "white 17" flown in September 1944. Another Yak-3 was n?1933 but fuselage number is not known (maybe white 19" ?).
Anybody to confirm and help me please ? TIA

Hello,

I dig up this old post to get your opinion.
I found this photo

from this web page: http://airaces.narod.ru/all1/koldunov.htm (around the middle of the page)

And here is an option of Eduard model kit 1194 (Limited dition)

The only difference (apart the number that we don't see on the photo) is the first letter of the word Donbass "донбясс".
Is the person sitting with Koldunov a pilot of the 267 IAP ?
Could someone translate the caption under the photo please ?

TIA, regards

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Hi Steph,

here it is:
"Deputy commander of the Regiment for the Politic Affairs I.F. Chernyj (on the right) and squadron "Osvobozhdennyj Donbass" leader A.I. Koldunov."

Some other photos:

Another interpretation of Koldunov's Yak-1b:

Yak-9T

Nice markings.

The plane in the photo of the page you've linked seems to have a white spinner, not red.

This image show that one of the planes had the slogan on the right side too, and the spinners change from plane to plane.

Thank you very much Michal and Massimo  Smiley
Does that mean that the "Osvobozhdennyj Donbass" Squadron is the 267 IAP ?
Maybe I make a mistake but I think Koldunov didn't belong to 267 IAP, am I wrong ?
TIA, regards.

Steph, are you sure that the plane should be a Yak-3? I can't see any Yak-3 in the photos of this unit.

Hello Massimo,

The only information I found about aircrafts flown by Koldunov was an early Yak-3, N°1711, "17", with only one 7.62 ShKAS machine gun (+ the 20 mm ShVAK cannon) during September-October 1944 in 866 IAP.
But I'm not sure he was a member of 267 IAP in his career during WW2...(?)
