Hello all,

Hobbyboss 1/72 MiG-3 late, one of their best easy kit if you ask me.

I probably did not do it justice tho, but had loads of fun trying to improve its few drawbacks.

Cockpit was detailed i much as i possibly could given there were no space to work at all, pity not much remains visible.

Missing flaps have been engraved on the underbelly, all gear doors have been made out of plasticard (not that i particularly enjoy this kind of work, i simply lost all original parts...) in the same time i decided to shorten the legs by about 2mm since it seemed, just out of personal perception from studied photos, that it would have seated a bit too high.

Also created the non-existing transparent landing light on the left leading edge. Sorry i actualy only took very seldom WIP pics...

Green with black bands camo scheme is supposed to depict an a/c from the late automn 1941, not sure about those black outlined red stars, just thought it looked cool.
The number "20" is purely random (actually comes from some spare T-34 decals..)
Now that i'm retrospectively looking at the pics, i wish i wasn't so lazy and had detailed further more the inner gear doors and painted those small airscoops under the nose with some darkish paint to simulate their intakes...

Anyway, definitly plagued with mistakes and clumsiness, but still kinda victory to me has i have been struggling to finish a kit since i've been back in the game for a couple of years.

thanks for passing by,
cheers !

Kevin

Hi Kevin,
thank you for sharing the photos of your nice MiG-3. I feel guilty for my 5 similar kits, already built but still awaiting to be painted since a lot of years ago.
Regards
Massimo
